Sharlene Weyland Luoma
Date: 8-26-2014

Sharlene Weyland Luoma March 27,1945 ~ August 26,2014 "I've always thought of myself as an intelligent, humorous and sexy woman. It matters not that I may have been wrong." I was born and raised in the small Mormon town of Tooele, Utah. My parents were Parley Earl and Edith Mae (Woods) Weyland, a Father who taught me to work hard, and a Mother who taught me to laugh and love. I was blessed with an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and neighbors who meant the world to me. During my life I accomplished many things, none of which seem important now, except for my family and life-long friends who have loved and encouraged me. God blessed me with a unique inner strength, the ability to find humor and candor in most things, a sympathizing heart that felt for other's joys and sorrows, and the courage to refuse to allow life's difficulties to define me or defeat me. On October 4, 1963, I married Carl "Jay" Edler, Jr. The joys (and pains) of motherhood began with my son Marty, who posed for more JC Penny portraits than a set of triplets. But more importantly, lived the work ethics inherited from his Grandparents Parley and Edith. Karina, my one and only daughter, whose love and devotion helped me to survive life's challenges and disappointments. And Jason, my baby, who grabbed my finger ever so tightly the first time he saw me and never let go. My children and grand children were the light of my life, and in them a piece of me will go on forever. On March 26, 1982, I married Gerald F. Luoma. The marriage ended in divorce in 2010. Left to carry on family traditions are my sons, Marty Layne Edler and Jon Jason Edler, Stansbury Park, Utah, my daughter & son-in-law, Karina Leigh (Edler) & Keith Bryan and my special niece, Lacresia Lynne Sacre, Macon, Georgia, and my grandchildren, Marty's Travis, Nicholas & son Liam, Melinda & son Adrian, Karina & Keith's Shelby, Lacresia's Jannike & son Aiden, and the darling of my heart, Jason & Crystal's Jadyn. My siblings Sherma (Weyland) Sacre and Stanley (Bonnie) Weyland and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. 1 was preceded in death by my parents Parley & Edith Weyland, my 'Bro' Brent Weyland, my sister-in-law Diane (Andrus) Weyland, and my brother-in-law Rodney Sacre. Please join family and friends on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Tate Mortuary Chapel, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah. Open-house visitation will be from 9:30 -10:45 am, followed by a Celebration of My Life at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow at 1:00 pm at our home located at 5546 Hampton Way, Stansbury Park, Utah.
