Marie Harris McLaws

Marie Elaina Harris McLaws passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home in Bountiful City, Utah, on Monday, April 14, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1944, in Tooele, Utah, to Glen Dalton Harris and Mildred Amelia Bosta Harris where she grew up alongside her older brother, Glen Dalton Harris Jr. Marie married her Tooele High School sweetheart and eternal companion, Garrie Wayne McLaws, of 62 years, on February 22, 1963. Together Marie and Garrie had four children: Shanna Kris (1964 -1974), Sharie, Shalayne and Garrie Jr. Marie has been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings with Relief Society President and Young Women’s President being among her favorites. Marie and her husband served a two-year intercity mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, and for the last 12 years she has served as an ordinance worker for the Bountiful Utah Temple where she was blessed to meet and serve with many people she came to know and love. Marie was a graduate of the University of Utah, earning a bachelor’s degree in business. She worked for many companies throughout her life, owned her own company for several years, and later retired from the State of Utah. Marie has always loved her family, friends, co-workers and all the dear neighbors she has lived by in Tooele, Ogden, West Valley City and Bountiful City, Utah. Marie was proceeded in death by both of her parents, her in- laws, Ross Fullmer McLaws and Audrey Matilda Martin McLaws, her daughter, Shanna Kris McLaws, her brother-in-law, Paul Ross McLaws, and her son-in-law, Jason Richard vonWeller. She is survived by her eternal companion, Garrie Wayne McLaws, her daughter, Sharie Evans (Mark), her daughter, Shalayne vonWeller (Jason 1975-2019), and her son, Garrie Wayne McLaws Jr. Her grandchildren: Autumn, Aubrie, Tyson, Alysha, Gavin, Aija, Makinnley, Zachery, Ashton, and her great-grandchildren: Kylor, Paris, Silas, Harlow, Hadley, Sailor, Harper, Roma, Haven and a baby sister, Holland, on the way. Marie is also survived by her brother, Glen D. Harris Jr. (Maurine), sister-in-law, Karen McLaws (Paul 1943-1994), and many nieces and nephews. There will be a private family service at the Tooele City Cemetery on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
