Thomas A. “Tom” Warr
Date: 9/22/2004

Thomas Allen Warr 1945 2004 Our beloved Tom died the afternoon of September 22, 2004, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City of complications from a lung transplant he received in May. Tom loved his family dearly. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, son, and brother. He called his mom every morning at 9 to say Good Morning and make sure things were okay. Tom had many good friends who gave him support during his illness and surgery. He was overwhelmed by the generosity and outpouring of love shown. The fundraiser held for him was a wonderful and special day. We will always have that memory to cherish. Tom was a hard working, honest and respected person in the community. He was an integral part of our family ballpark, Warr Memorial Park, for many years. He and his dad put in untold hours building the park, maintaining it, running the league and playing ball. His loss here is devastating. Tom loved to fish Strawberry Reservoir, hunt deer in Miners Canyon, camp and spend time with his family. Holidays were always special Family Times. He was a gifted athlete. When he was about 14 years old and playing baseball with lifelong friends, he hit a home run for Normies birthday and won the league championship. He graduated from Tooele High School and attended USU for two years. After that he served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and retired from Barrick Mercur Mine. He had many good friends at Barrick and recently attended an employee reunion in Ophir Canyon. His lung transplant gave him a few good quality months. We are very grateful for that. He was so thrilled with the results and felt and looked so well he never gave up hope. He had so many projects and lists to finish; he was not ready to go. Tom was born August 23, 1945, to Norman and Emma Warr. Normie died in February 1999 and Tom missed him every day. Tom married the love of his life, Vonna Magee, on October 3, 1970. He is survived by his wife Vonna; their four children, Jamie Warr, Shalynda Warr, Mandie (Matt) McLaughlin, Tomi Ann Warr, (Donnie Murphy); his eight wonderful grandchildren who were the light of his life, Makay, Desirae, Shelby, Taylor, Cooper, Ashton, Nicole and Carson he cherished every minute he spent with them; his mother, Emma Warr; sisters, Betty (Bob) Slingerland, Diane (Terry) Judd, and Colleen Warr; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We especially want to thank Gary McAllister for his friendship and help. Tom was our rock. He was a good man. We will miss him dearly. Per his wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a special place. A memorial service was held Monday, September 27, 2004 at Tates Mortuary and
